Job Summary
Join our dynamic maritime team as a Tugboat Deckhand, where you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient operation of tugboats that assist in maneuvering ships and barges. Duties
- Assist with the rigging of towlines, mooring lines, and other equipment necessary for vessel operations
- Conduct routine mechanical inspections and perform basic maintenance tasks on deck machinery and equipment
- Support the crew in docking, undocking, and maneuvering ships safely within port areas
- Help with onboard hospitality by preparing meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming environment for crew members
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with ship captains, port authorities, and fellow team members
- Participate in safety drills, emergency procedures, and safety equipment checks to uphold a secure working environment
- Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, safety checks, and operational reports to ensure compliance and smooth workflow
Skills
- Strong knowledge of rigging techniques and safety protocols related to maritime operations
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic deck machinery and perform routine maintenance
- Experience or willingness to learn cooking skills to support onboard hospitality needs
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and clear communication abilities
- Hospitality awareness to create a comfortable environment for crew members during extended shifts
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high energy levels
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to safety, efficiency, and collaboration
