Role Description This full-time, on-site Naval Architect role is based in Tampa, FL and involves supporting the design, analysis, and optimization of a variety of marine vessels and systems. The Naval Architect will perform hydrostatic and hydrodynamic calculations, structural assessments, and stability analyses for newbuilds and retrofits, working closely with marine engineers and other technical staff. Daily responsibilities include preparing design drawings and 3D models, developing technical specifications, and contributing to feasibility studies and vessel modification projects. The role also includes reviewing regulatory requirements, preparing documentation for class and flag approvals, and supporting clients during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The individual will collaborate with project teams, attend client and yard meetings, and help ensure that solutions meet safety, performance, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Naval Architecture, including vessel design principles and ship stability.
- Proficiency in engineering Calculations related to hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, weight distribution, and performance analysis.
- Experience with Structural Analysis for marine structures, hull integrity, and load assessments.
- Background in Marine Engineering or Navy-related projects, including familiarity with ship systems and maritime operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Ability to read and produce technical drawings and 3D models using industry-standard CAD or marine design software.
- Knowledge of relevant class, flag, and regulatory standards and guidelines applicable to vessel design and modification.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-based environment.
- Previous experience in a maritime design or shipyard environment is preferred but not required.
