Naval Architect / Marine Engineer

Seeking an experienced Naval Architect / Marine Engineer to join a well-established marine engineering firm supporting commercial vessel design, construction, and retrofit projects. The position can be based in **Tampa, FL or Cleveland, OH.

This is a hands-on engineering role with exposure to a broad range of projects involving ships, tugs, barges, ATBs, tankers, and other commercial vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong naval architecture foundation and experience with vessel stability, structures, and marine design.

What You’ll Be Doing

Perform vessel stability and structural analysis

Support structural design for new construction and vessel modification projects

Develop engineering studies, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation

Participate in feasibility studies and vessel retrofit projects

Support projects throughout the design and construction process

Perform structural analysis using FEA tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or similar software

Utilize GHS or comparable stability software

Work with AutoCAD and other engineering/design applications

Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team of naval architects, marine engineers, electrical engineers, and designers

Support smaller engineering projects and manage assigned project responsibilities

Ensure engineering work meets applicable USCG, IMO, class, and industry requirements

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering discipline

5+ years of relevant marine engineering or naval architecture experience

Experience within a shipyard, vessel owner/operator, classification society, or marine engineering/consulting environment

Strong understanding of vessel structures and/or stability

Experience with ATBs, tankers, LNG vessels, tugs, barges, or similar commercial vessels is highly desirable

Familiarity with USCG, IMO, and classification society requirements

Experience with AutoCAD, GHS, FEA software, and Microsoft Excel

Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative engineering team

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to travel periodically for vessel or project requirements

Preferred

A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required. Candidates interested in or capable of obtaining their PE are encouraged to apply.
