Job Overview

Join our dynamic maritime team as a Marine Surveyor, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of water transportation activities. This energetic position involves inspecting vessels, overseeing port and terminal operations, and collaborating with maritime crews to uphold industry standards. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth waterborne logistics while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards across diverse marine environments.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of ships, cargo, and port facilities to verify compliance with maritime safety procedures and US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations.
  • Oversee port operations, including vessel mooring, cargo handling, and terminal activities to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Manage manual handling tasks related to cargo loading/unloading and equipment operation with precision and safety in mind.
  • Communicate effectively with maritime crews, port authorities, and clients to coordinate vessel movements and operational requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on marine equipment, rigging, and heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Lead team management efforts by supervising survey staff, coordinating tasks, and fostering a safety-conscious work environment.
  • Assist in water transportation industry projects by providing technical expertise on boat handling, equipment maintenance, and repair procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in port operations, terminal management, or water transportation industries.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, repair & operations (MRO), rigging, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with USCG regulations and maritime safety procedures essential for compliance and safe vessel handling.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while managing cargo or equipment in various marine settings.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective maritime crew communication and customer service interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams efficiently within fast-paced port or terminal environments.
  • Technical proficiency with marine tools, navigation systems, and maintenance software is highly desirable.
