General Laborer / Deckhand

Responsibilities to include:

• Assisting in all barge loading activities to include: handling lines, inspecting barge prior to loading, keeping barge cover clean during loading, opening and closing barge cover doors, etc.
• Performing preventative maintenance and repairs of facility’s equipment
• Maintaining grain quality throughout loading process
• Performing general cleaning around the facility, including, but not limited to, shoveling, sweeping, and leaf blowing
• Unloading grain trucks and operating belts.
• Maintaining quality customer service and professional communication with customers
• Completing tasks while following all company and industry procedures and guidelines

Requirements:

This is an entry level position. Experience is not required. A background in Agriculture and experience in handling grain is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

• Ability to lift, pull, and push in excess of 50 lbs. regularly
• Ability to bend, squat, twist, and kneel constantly
• Ability to maintain balance while working at substantial heights and on the barge’s surface
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs frequently
• Ability to stand and walk continuously
• Effective oral communication skills; both face-to-face and using a two-way radio
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to take oral and written directions
• Ability to think logically, maintain vigilance, and prioritize safety in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
