Duties

• Assist with boat handling, docking, and mooring operations to ensure safe vessel maneuvering in various conditions
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of water transportation equipment, including engines, rigging, and safety gear
• Support vessel cleaning, repairs, and mechanical work to maintain optimal operational readiness
• Execute safety procedures such as firefighting drills, first aid responses, CPR, and maritime safety protocols to safeguard crew and passengers
• Handle ropes, lines, and rigging at sea with precision to secure cargo and manage vessel stability
• Operate cranes and other water transportation equipment following strict safety standards and US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers, addressing their needs courteously, and ensuring a positive onboard experience

Skills

• Strong knowledge of boat handling techniques and water transportation industry standards
• Familiarity with USCG regulations governing maritime operations and crew responsibilities
• Experience in firefighting techniques, first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures at sea
• Excellent communication skills for effective maritime crew coordination and customer interaction
• Physical stamina for rope handling at sea, lifting heavy gear, and performing routine vessel tasks
• Hospitality skills including providing a welcoming environment for passengers or crew members
