Deckhand

Company Description Coast Maritime owns and operates a 42-foot crew boat certified by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry up to 22 passengers as far as 20 miles offshore. Role Description The Deckhand role at Coast Maritime is a contract, on-site position based in Long Beach, CA. The deckhand is responsible for assisting with vessel operations, including line handling, rigging, and basic maintenance of deck equipment and work areas. Daily tasks include supporting passenger embarkation and disembarkation, monitoring deck safety, and following instructions from the captain and senior crew. The deckhand helps ensure that all safety procedures and maritime regulations are observed, provides courteous customer service to passengers and clients, and contributes to efficient, professional vessel operations during offshore and nearshore assignments.

Qualifications

• Strong vessel operations abilities, including basic boat handling support and familiarity with working on a crew boat.
• Rigging and deck operations skills, such as line handling, securing equipment, and safe use of deck gear.
• Customer service and communication skills to interact professionally with passengers, clients, and crew.
• Ability to work safely in a physically demanding maritime environment, including lifting, bending, and working in varying weather conditions.
• Knowledge of basic maritime safety practices, including use of PPE and adherence to USCG regulations.
• Previous experience in commercial or industrial marine operations is preferred.
• Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and the ability to meet all security and background requirements, if applicable.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and varying offshore schedules.
