Job Description

Booster Pump Operator / Oiler - Dredging

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Booster Pump Operator / Olier to join our growing team at Gator Dredging. You must have at least 2 years of booster pump operating experience in dredging.

Starting Hourly Pay Range for This Position: $20.00 to $26.00. This is based on previous work experience, skills, and current certifications / professional licenses.

Responsibilities For the Booster Pump Operator / Oiler:

  • Start, monitor, and stop barge-mounted or land-based booster pumps to assist the dredging operations.
  • Adjust pump speeds (manual or automated) to match inlet pressures, avoid cavitation, and prevent pressure spikes
  • Lubricate moving parts of booster pumps to reduce friction and wear.
  • Perform routine inspections of booster pumps to identify potential issues.
  • Monitor and maintain oil levels in pumps and reservoirs.
  • Replace worn-out or damaged parts to ensure continuous operation.
  • Assist in the installation and setup of new booster pumps.
  • Document maintenance activities and report any abnormalities to supervisors.
  • Clean and maintain the work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to troubleshoot and resolve pump issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required for Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements For the Booster Pump Operator / Oiler:

  • 2 years of booster pump operating experience in dredging.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • OSHA Certification a plus.
  • Boating or Equipment Certifications a plus.
  • Provide your own reliable transportation to and from the job site.
  • Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required.
  • Be honest, hardworking, reliable, punctual and attitude to get the job done.

Physical Demands/Work Environment for The Booster Pump Operator / Oiler:

  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use sit, use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will reach with hands; Occasionally will stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell.
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly will lift up to 10 pounds; Frequently will lift up to 25 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 50 pounds.
