The Port Captain is responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of all marine operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service across the fleet. This role has direct oversight of fleet captains and crew, including training, mentoring, performance evaluation, and continuous development to maintain high operational standards. The Port Captain ensures that all ferry logs, licensing documentation, and safety training records are accurate, current, and compliant with regulatory requirements. They actively enforce and model company policies and core values, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork among marine personnel. In addition, the Port Captain oversees the daily operation of United States Coast Guard inspected small passenger vessels under contract with the National Park Service and Alcatraz Island, ensuring the safety and security of crew, delivering a high quality and enjoyable passenger experience, and promoting responsible environmental stewardship in all operations.

Requirements & Qualifications: U.S. Coast Guard Inland Masters (100 ton) or equivalent and valid medical certificate FCC Marine Radio license TWIC Possess and maintain a current California Driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Two (2) years of boat handling experience preferred but not required. Customer service experience is helpful. Knowledge of foreign language is helpful.
