From bikes and luggage to kids and pets, you’ll be the friendly face ensuring everyone (and everything) gets on and off smoothly and safely. Arnold Transit Company, is seeking energetic Deck Hands to join our team starting in July of 2026. This position is seasonal but may have an opportunity to work year around depending on the needs of the business this winter.

Based in the stunning Northern Michigan, you'll enjoy daily views of breathtaking shorelines of the Great Lakes, both Lake Huron and Lake Michigan as well as the Mackinac Bridge.

Mackinac Island is a globally renowned tourist and historical destination, attracting visitors from all corners of the world. While our peak season buzzes with activity during the warmer months, adventure seekers keep us going year-round. We're on the lookout for dedicated and enthusiastic team players.

Your Contributions to the TEAM

• Welcome and assist guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Greet customers, answer questions and anticipate their needs.
• Safely load and unload passengers, luggage, and bicycles
• Safely handle and tie lines to moor vessels
• Participate and apply procedural and safety training.
• Scan and collect tickets as customers board.
• Inform and ensure safe behaviors by all passengers.
• Aid Captain in navigation or obstructions.
• Aid Captain in accurate record keeping and counts.
• Maintain company standards of appearance and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull and lift items up to 65 pounds.
• Ability to maintain balance on boat.
• Pass background checks, drug & alcohol testing as mandated by US Coast Guard.
• Available to work peak tourist times including nights, weekends & holidays.

Locations

• Opportunities are on-site with our locations being Mackinaw City, and St. Ignace
