Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair marine engine and mechanical systems, including propulsion, steering, and fuel systems
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to accurately troubleshoot issues
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, belt replacements, and system inspections to prevent future problems
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments like calipers and ohmmeters for repairs and fabrication
- Conduct electrical work including soldering, wiring repairs, and testing circuits to ensure safety and compliance
- Assist with rigging tasks such as installing or replacing rigging components and fabricating custom fittings using sheet metal and other materials
- Lift heavy components safely during maintenance procedures while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for each vessel serviced
Skills
- Proven service technician experience with marine or vehicle maintenance is highly preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience to troubleshoot complex systems effectively
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams with precision for accurate repairs
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, sheet metal fabrication tools, and heavy lifting techniques
- Experience with rigging installations and fabrications specific to marine environments
- Familiarity with military-grade systems or standards is a plus but not required
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices applicable across different types of machinery and vessels
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining high safety standards
