Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propulsion system issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on engines, hulls, rigging, sheet metal components, and power systems to ensure vessel safety and performance.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to execute repairs with accuracy.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems with ohmmeters and other diagnostic devices.
- Assist in rigging operations for vessel deployment or repair projects while adhering to safety standards.
- Support customer service efforts by communicating repair progress clearly and ensuring client satisfaction with completed work.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic within the marine industry or related fields such as vehicle maintenance or heavy machinery repair.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience working with schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering devices, calipers, and heavy lifting techniques.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes involving sheet metal work and assembly of mechanical components.
- Ability to read technical manuals accurately and use precision measuring instruments effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in demanding environments while maintaining safety standards.
