Job Title: Senior Marine Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced Marine Diesel Mechanic with specialized knowledge of marine engines to join our team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling diesel-powered marine propulsion systems and auxiliary equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship in a marine environment.

Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair marine diesel engines, with a focus on generators and propulsion systems
Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, fuel system service, and cooling system inspections
Conduct engine overhauls, rebuilds, and component replacements (injectors, turbos, pumps, etc.)
Interpret technical manuals, DC Electrical schematics, and diagnostic software.
Perform electronic diagnostics using OEM tools and software
Maintain and repair fuel, and exhaust systems
Conduct sea trials to verify proper engine performance after repairs
Ensure all work complies with marine safety standards and environmental regulations
Accurately document service work, parts used, and labor hours
Communicate effectively with customers, service managers, and team members regarding repair status and recommendations

Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a marine diesel mechanic or heavy diesel technician
Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, and electrical systems
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and engine software
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic computer skills, IE Email, Word documents, PDF’s etc.

Preferred Qualifications
Manufacturers factory training or certification
Experience with marine generators and auxiliary systems
Welding or fabrication skills
Familiarity with multiple marine diesel brands is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work performed in marinas, boatyards, and onboard vessels
Exposure to noise, vibration, fumes, and varying weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods
