Summary/Objective
This operation is based in the Port of New Orleans on the Lower Mississippi River. This is an inland job where employees typically live locally and go home after completing their watch each day.
LabMar Ferry Services is the premier operator of Passenger Ferry vessels in the New Orleans region. We are looking to add deckhands to our team to support the local ferry operations. We offer a fast-paced customer friendly operation with the ability to go home at the end of your shift.

Deckhand Job Duties, skills, and abilities:
*Ability to work after hours and on weekends as necessary. Ability to work surge services, festivals or other required times is required.
Deckhand Physical Demands:
This operation is based in the Port of New Orleans on the Lower Mississippi River. This is an inland job where employees typically live locally and go home after completing their watch each day.
Workdays are 12 hours; the incumbent must be able to work standard 12 hour days as a condition of employment. Longer hours may be required for emergency repairs or assignments where needed. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and large capacity events.
Must be able to pass USCG physical and drug screen.
The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with a moderate to loud noise level.
The Marine operation is subject to varied wake and motion.
Ability to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis; ability to work long hours each day.
Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently.
Ability to carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing upwards of 50 lbs.
Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely.
Ability to manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job.
Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel.
Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job.
Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel’s station bill.
