RIBCRAFT is seeking a Senior Naval Architect / Marine Engineer to join our team. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and would be based out of our Marblehead, MA location (on-site). If you are an experienced Naval Architect/Marine Engineer with significant boat building knowledge, experience managing a small team of engineers, and technical project management experience, we’d like to meet you!
Responsibilities:
As the Senior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer supporting RIBCRAFT’s current and future contracts, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical expertise, individual engineering contributions, and management throughout the design and build phases of all projects. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage an engineering team comprised of 2-3 individuals of varying experience levels with a workload consisting of new build design, engineering support during construction, existing product enhancement, and testing programs
- Provide technical expertise in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Production Design, and Lamination/Infusion to RIBCRAFT senior leadership and production management
- Knowledgeable in ABYC, USCG, and US Navy small craft requirements
- Develop, design, and manage production ready drawings
- Contribute to feasibility studies for new RIBCRAFT work and assist in responses to future project bids with a focus on technical aspects
- Develop and track engineering change orders as required
- Manage and serve as the primary technical point of contact for all subcontractors and customers
- Lead design reviews as required and ensure compliance with job specifications
- As needed, assist in the hiring, on-boarding, and training processes for new personnel
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Ocean Engineering with 7+ years of experience in the field.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and people management skills.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and willingness to jump-in and contribute as needed.
- Ability to recognize, delegate, and triage incoming and existing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in setting and maintaining project schedules for yourself and the engineering team.
- Proficient with SolidWorks, Rhino3D, and AutoCAD.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
