Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on marine engines, electrical systems, rigging, and mechanical components on-site.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and precision measuring instruments to troubleshoot issues accurately.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as oil changes, belt replacements, and system calibrations using hand tools and power tools.
- Fabricate and modify sheet metal or other structural components to meet specific vessel requirements.
- Execute welding, soldering, and heavy lifting tasks with safety and precision to repair or upgrade vessel parts.
- Interpret electrical schematics and use tools like ohmmeters to diagnose wiring or electrical component failures.
- Assist with assembly, disassembly, and rigging operations during vessel servicing or installation projects.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
Skills
- Proven service technician experience with a strong background in marine or vehicle maintenance.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience working in military environments or with military-grade equipment is a plus.
- Solid electrical experience including wiring, soldering, troubleshooting circuits, and using multimeters like ohmmeters.
- Mechanical knowledge of engines, powertrains, sheet metal fabrication, welding (including arc welding), and assembly processes.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, precision measuring instruments, and sheet metal tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques for lifting or securing heavy components on vessels or equipment.
- Experience with vehicle maintenance procedures applicable to marine vessels or similar machinery.
