Job Summary
This job is located within Operations at Morton Bahamas Limited with responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant navigation of vessels within Bahamian waters, ensuring the protection of life, property, and the marine environment while facilitating port and company operations. The Junior Marine Pilot is expected to adhere to and report on Company Environmental Health and Safety policies. Works under general supervision and follows established guidelines and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position operates within Marine Operations and includes, but is not limited to, assisting with pilotage services for vessels entering, transiting, and departing Morton Bahamas Ltd. port facilities. The Junior Marine Pilot will work under the supervision of a licensed Senior Pilot (Marine Supervisor) and will progressively develop competency in ship handling and navigation.

Work Environment
This position requires knowledge and awareness of marine operations. This position is a developmental role designed to lead toward a Class B and Class A Marine Pilot License. Progression is based on sea time, competency assessments, and successful completion of required training programs. Work is mostly outdoors. Moderate exposure to hazardous conditions, such as extreme heat, and exposure to fuels and oils (i.e., skin contact and fumes). Requires boarding and disembarking vessels via pilot ladders in varying sea conditions. Must be able to maintain balance and coordination. Requires exposure to vessel motion. Requires regular use of PPE, steel-toe boots, coveralls, a life vest, safety glasses, hard hats, and communication devices (VHF radios). Occasional work in confined spaces may be required. Required to work shifts and may be required to work on weekends and holidays.
