Duties
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair marine engines, electrical systems, rigging, and mechanical components using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to ensure optimal vessel performance
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments for assembly, fabrication, and repairs
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols during maintenance or installation projects
- Fabricate sheet metal parts or custom components as needed for vessel repairs or modifications
- Use electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical issues accurately
- Assist with vessel assembly, rigging operations, and component installation ensuring compliance with safety standards and specifications
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs for each vessel or piece of equipment
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering technical guidance when necessary
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic within the marine industry or related fields such as heavy equipment or vehicle maintenance
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience reading schematics and technical diagrams
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems including soldering, wiring repairs, and troubleshooting using electrical testing tools like ohmmeters
- Familiarity with rigging techniques, sheet metal fabrication, welding (including arc welding), and assembly processes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various working environments
- Experience working with military-grade equipment or in military settings is highly desirable
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, calipers, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clear communication abilities
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to marine maintenance operations
