Responsibilities:
- Manages assigned engineering projects, including engineering and drafting personnel, budget, schedule, and technical development.
- Supports Engineering Manager in preparing project estimating, projects tasks, budgets and schedules
- Prepares and reviews drawings, specifications, complex analyses, and calculations by naval architects, junior engineers and drafter staff to ensure conformance with customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Interacts with clients on a peer level.
- Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization.
- Prepares and presents reports for clients and classification/regulatory organizations
- Analyzes new technologies and runs competitive analyses
- Vessel surveys and inspections
- Vessel Speed/Power/Resistance estimates
- Hydrostatics and Stability (intact & damage) assessments, including vessel inclining experiments
- Fluid Transfer
- Cargo Handling – Loading Programs
- Design of Hull and all structural related requirements
- Oversee ship construction or ship repair projects
- Prepares or reviews recommendations for repair work to ships
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Education/Experience:
- Naval Architect and Marine Engineering degree or equivalent and a minimum of at least 10 years direct industry experience.
- Language Ability:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills:
- knowledge of recent versions of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD and GHS.
- Certificates and Licenses:
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises engineers and draftsman on various engineering jobs.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work
