Position Overview
The Deckhand position is a full-time role on a day boat, supporting marine operations and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of vessels and barges. Shift schedule will be 5 to 6 days per week and up to 12 hours per day. Pay is based on experience. We’re seeking dependable, safety-minded individuals who take pride in their work and are dedicated to delivering exceptional results on every project.
Responsibilities
- Perform barge rigging and line handling
- Handle, maintain, and inspect tugboat equipment
- Shift, drop, and pick up barges as directed
- Check tow and assist with locking and/or bridge operations
- Clean, grease, and maintain tugboats and related equipment
- Paint, repair, and maintain areas of the tug and barges
- Clean and organize deck barges
- Perform routine housekeeping and maintenance duties to ensure a safe and orderly work environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing required
- Proficient use of hand and power tools (e.g., circular saws, hammers, wrenches, bolts)
- Must be able to obtain TWIC credentials
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, U.S. Coast Guard physical, and background check
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year of deckhand or boating experience preferred
- Preference given to applicants residing near Savannah, GA
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
