Overview
We are seeking a versatile and motivated UAS Drone Pilot / River Survey Technician to support geospatial and hydrographic survey operations nationwide. This role combines advanced drone-based LiDAR data collection with hands-on river and marine surveying, offering a unique opportunity to work both in the air and on the water. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, safety-focused, and adaptable—comfortable operating UAS platforms as well as participating in field survey operations in dynamic outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to collect LiDAR and photogrammetry data for mapping and survey projects.
- Conduct mission planning, airspace coordination, and ensure FAA compliance for all drone operations.
- Perform hydrographic and river surveys, including depth of cover and utility locating.
- Operate survey vessels and assist with onboard data acquisition systems.
- Collect, manage, and validate both aerial and hydrographic datasets.
- Travel to project sites across the U.S. and work in varying terrain and environmental conditions.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required).
- Experience operating drones for commercial, mapping, or survey applications.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, water environments).
- Willingness to travel frequently for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LiDAR systems, photogrammetry, or geospatial data processing.
- Background in hydrographic surveying, marine operations, or utility locating.
- Familiarity with GNSS, GIS, or survey-grade data collection equipment.
- Boating experience and comfort working on or around water.
- Mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary: $40,000 – $80,000, based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.

Work Environment
This position requires extensive travel and fieldwork, including long days outdoors, early mornings, and physically active tasks.
