Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical wiring, and associated components using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to ensure vessel safety and performance
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to fabricate or repair parts as needed
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely when handling large engine components or boat parts
- Interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot complex electrical issues on boats
- Assist with rigging tasks such as installing or repairing rigging systems and sheet metal components
- Maintain detailed service records and logs for each vessel serviced or repaired
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of heavy-duty tools and maintenance equipment
Experience
- Proven service technician experience in marine or vehicle maintenance environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience working on boats or similar machinery
- Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, soldering techniques, welding, and fabrication processes
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, calipers, ohmmeters (for electrical testing), and precision measuring instruments
- Background in military maintenance or heavy equipment servicing is a plus
- Customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during assembly or repairs
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices applicable to marine vessels or similar machinery
