Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team dedicated to maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of marine vessels. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing repairs to ensure optimal vessel performance and safety. Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using schematics, wiring diagrams, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters.
- Perform routine maintenance including engine tune-ups, fluid changes, and system inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- Repair or replace damaged components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques like sheet metal work and soldering.
- Execute complex tasks such as rigging, assembly of new equipment, and heavy lifting to ensure proper vessel operation.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately to troubleshoot issues efficiently.
- Conduct inspections of vessel systems for safety compliance and operational efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven service technician experience with a strong background in mechanical repair and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to marine systems.
- Experience working in military or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, sheet metal fabrication tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices applicable to marine vessels or similar machinery.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Basic sales aptitude for recommending parts or services when appropriate.
