Job Summary:
The Marine Mechanic performs various marine maintenance and replacement tasks assigned by the manager.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Take a methodical approach to diagnose all types of mechanical issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure compliance for USCG inspections on our tour boats and rental fleet.
- Complete courses and other trainings pertaining to the position.
Use- a proactive approach to environmental stewardship and ensure all work is performed under the Florida Clean Marina Program guidelines.
- Create work orders and ensure they are billed to the correct unit as assigned
- Participate in daily meetings by phone or Teams with direct supervisor
- All other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to repair Fiberglass and Aluminum hulls (welding) to USCG specs.
Must have knowledge of 12v electrical systems to effectively diagnose and repair issues.- Basic knowledge of hydraulic, plumbing, and electronics.
- Towing experience is required for bottom repairs and hurricane prep.
- Good communication skills will be needed to work with captains, Coast Guard Inspectors, and report to site managers at different operations.
- Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize Office 365.
- A valid drivers license and clean driving record
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to stand for the entire work day.
- Climbing steps regularly.
- Working in wet and slippery conditions. Frequently working in an outdoor, hot, and damp environment.
- Frequently immerses hands in water.
- Withstanding temperature extremes in outdoor environments and inclement weather.
- Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
- Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
- Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
EQUIPMENT USED
- A work vehicle and specialty tools will be provided, but you will need to have basic tools to perform most tasks.
