Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair marine engines, electrical systems, rigging, and mechanical components using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform maintenance tasks including oil changes, engine tune-ups, and system inspections to ensure vessel safety and efficiency
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering equipment, welding apparatus, and precision measuring instruments to execute repairs with accuracy
- Fabricate or modify sheet metal parts and perform assembly tasks to meet specific vessel requirements
- Conduct heavy lifting safely while handling large engine parts or boat components during maintenance or installation procedures
- Interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical issues using ohmmeters and other diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports documenting all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality control measures at all times
Experience
- Proven service technician experience in marine environments with a strong mechanical background with Mercury, Volvo and Yamaha Engines
- Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, welding techniques, fabrication processes, and rigging operations
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering irons, welding equipment, heavy lifting techniques, and maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of sheet metal work and assembly processes relevant to marine vessel construction or repair
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members
- Demonstrated ability to perform precision measurements accurately using specialized instruments such as calipers and measurement gauges
