Overview

Responsibilities
- Safely operate towboats in accordance with federal regulations, including the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) when applicable to maritime navigation standards.
- Navigate waterways skillfully, ensuring timely delivery of freight while avoiding hazards and maintaining vessel stability.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with crew members, port authorities, and clients to coordinate vessel movements and address operational needs.
- Oversee vessel safety procedures, including inspections, emergency protocols, and compliance with all maritime safety regulations.
- Lead crew members by providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient teamwork and adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor weather conditions, water levels, and other environmental factors that could impact navigation or safety.
- Maintain detailed logs of vessel operations, freight movements, and incident reports for regulatory compliance and operational analysis.
Experience
- Proven experience operating towboats or similar vessels in inland waterways or maritime environments.
- Strong knowledge of federal maritime laws, safety regulations, and navigation protocols; familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) is advantageous for understanding broader regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with crew members, clients, and regulatory agencies.
