Job Summary
Join our dynamic maritime team as a Harbor Deckhand, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of harbor activities. This energetic position involves assisting with vessel mooring, handling cargo, maintaining safety protocols, and providing excellent customer service to visitors and crew members alike. Duties
- Assist with rigging tasks to secure vessels and cargo safely during docking and departure
- Perform routine mechanical inspections and maintenance of harbor equipment and gear
- Support vessel mooring by handling lines, fenders, and related equipment efficiently
- Provide friendly customer service to visiting crews, contractors, and visitors, ensuring a positive experience
- Help with basic cooking duties in crew or hospitality areas when needed
- Maintain safety standards by conducting inspections and adhering to protocols during harbor activities
- Support logistical operations such as organizing supplies, managing cargo movement, and assisting with loading/unloading processes
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of rigging techniques and mechanical systems used in maritime environments
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable attitude
- Ability to follow safety procedures diligently and work effectively as part of a team
- Prior experience or interest in hospitality or food service is a plus but not mandatory
- Willingness to learn new skills related to vessel handling, mechanical maintenance, and harbor operations
