Argosy Cruises is hiring for a part-time seasonal position that will provide deckhand service on a passenger ferry between Everett and Jetty Island. The season begins in early July and runs through Labor Day weekend. Mandatory training dates include June 23-25 in Seattle and July 7th in Everett. Work schedule is Fri - Sun, with shifts lasting between 10 and 11 hours. Job location is at Everett Marina North - 522 10th St., Everett, WA 98201.
An ideal candidate will be safety focused while remaining personable, energetic, friendly, and warm toward guests and fellow crew members. Additionally, all vessel crew will be trained in safety procedures and be expected to reach the level of Senior Deckhand on the Argosy Vessel Queen’s Launch.
Essential Job Functions:
- Step on and off vessels while docking and undocking
- Tie up and untie vessels during docking and undocking
- Maintain situational awareness at all times on the boats and on the docks
- Participate in onboard training and drills including Man-Overboard, Fire, Abandon Ship, and Anchoring
- Control and maneuver vessels
- Operate marine VHF radios
- Relieve the captain for short breaks
- Lead response to onboard emergencies
- Conduct deck rounds
- Wash the exterior of vessels
- Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
- Must pass a DOT drug test as required by the United States Coast Guard.
- Must pass a post-offer background check
- Ability to speak, read, and write clearly in English

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds
- Full range of motion in all extremities
- Ability to navigate uneven and shifting surfaces, including vessel decks, docks, piers, and dirt paths
- Ability to step or leap down three feet from a slow-moving platform
- Ability to climb over barriers up to 3.5 feet high
- Ability to stoop and crouch in small spaces
- Ability to communicate clearly and loudly
- Ability to swim
- Ability to work long shifts
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and extreme temperatures
- Availability to work late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to perform all seamanship duties, including fueling, line handling, inspection of machinery spaces, emergency drills, deploying gangways and boarding ramps, and transferring black and grey water
