Description:
Background investigation, US Citizenship, CAC, and a confidential security clearance are requirements of this position. Travel is 50%.
- Conduct ship checks, inspections and surveys to assess the material condition and operational readiness of marine shipboard HM&E components and systems.
- Assess compliance with regulatory standards and ship specification.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while interfacing with stakeholders and cross functional teams to ensure necessary commitments and targets/deadline/goals are met.
- Must be well-versed in marine and complete ship engineering systems to include but not limited to; diesel, steam, gas turbine and electric high voltage propulsion systems, auxiliary shipboard systems, marine electrical systems, deck equipment, shipboard system equipment troubleshooting, and generator overhauls.
- Develop equipment operating instructions, manuals, and testing procedures for main propulsion and auxiliary systems aboard various shipboard platforms to assess equipment for proper operation within recommended manufacturer and ABS, USCG, Naval and MSC regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Fifteen (15) years in the marine industry with experience on commercial or US Naval Ships
- Three (3) years of Port Engineer experience overseeing ship new construction, or maintenance and repair
- Experience working with ship and ship system design principles and practices.
- Familiarity with maritime fuel systems, refrigeration systems (HVAC), compressed air systems, auxiliary shipboard systems, and piping systems desired
- Experience in commercial ship operations with an emphasis on material readiness and maintenance studies, reliability engineering and technical data review.
- Experience with: Main Propulsion Diesel Engines and associated equipment; working with applicable regulatory, commercial, and military standards and classification society rules desired; working with shipyards.
- Expertise in ship design, marine, ocean engineering or naval architecture often gained through maritime school education or similar background desired.
- Direct mechanical and engineering design, construction management, and material procurement experience.
- Applicant must be highly skilled in both oral and written communications and be capable of productive and efficient work with limited or no supervision while interacting effectively with all departments throughout the organization.

Education/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical/marine engineering or other similar engineering program
- Hold USCG Merchant Marine Credential, with the following rating and endorsements: Chief Engineer of Steam/Motor/Gas Turbine, Unlimited Horsepower
or
- EOOW (Engineer Officer of the Watch) qualification on steam, diesel, or gas turbine propelled US Navy vessels.
