Duties
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on various marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs utilizing tools such as multimeters (ohmmeters), soldering irons, and precision measuring instruments.
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify metal components using rigging techniques, and power tools to meet specific vessel requirements.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools to disassemble, repair, or replace mechanical parts including pumps, gearboxes, shafts, and other propulsion components.
- Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately; perform calibration with calipers and other precision instruments.
- Execute heavy lifting tasks safely while maintaining adherence to safety protocols; assist in vessel assembly or refurbishment projects as needed.
- Support sales efforts by recommending maintenance plans or upgrades.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic within the marine industry or related fields such as vehicle maintenance or heavy equipment repair.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in engine repair, sheet metal fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly processes.
- Electrical experience including troubleshooting wiring systems using schematics and diagnostic tools like ohmmeters.
- Familiarity with rigging techniques for lifting or securing heavy components; experience with fabrication of metal parts is highly desirable.
- Experience with heavy lifting equipment is essential for safety and efficiency.
- Relevant technical training is a plus; demonstrates discipline and adaptability in complex environments.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings.
- Valid use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering irons, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments required for daily tasks.
