Milwaukee Sailing Adventures
The deckhand position is a challenging myriad of concurrent tasks -- requiring exceptional multi-tasking ability.
You will learn how to help the Captain sail the boat -- by assisting with moving the large sailboat's sails (vertically and horizontally), by assisting with docking the vessel (tying dock lines), by monitoring and serving passengers to board and disembark the boat, and by standing watch -- looking at the horizon to be certain other boats are not in danger of colliding with the sailboat.
It takes approximately one month to learn the job -- such that you can safely assist the Captain with sailing the boat, taking care of passengers, docking, and standing watch.
Deckhands are paid a minimal hourly fee and excellent tips from passengers (when passengers are aboard the vessel). During training you earn a modest hourly pay rate. Once trained, you earn tips (which can range from $50 to $100 per 90-minute sail).
If all you seek is the highest paying job -- find another job.
But if you want to have a great summer -- learning how to sail and earning reasonable income (part-time), then this might be the job for you!
TO APPLY WE MUST RECEIVE A COVER LETTER (WHY YOU WANT TO LEARN TO SAIL -- AND YOUR AVAILABILITY FROM MAY THROUGH SEPTEMBER) AND RESUME.
Thank you!
Capt. Andrew
