Assistant Marine Mechanic / Marina Associate
ROLE
This role is a dynamic, blended role focused on assisting both the Shop Manager and the Dock Master. On some days supporting the Marina Shop Manager in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining marine engines and boat systems. On some days this position shifts focus to supporting the Dockmaster, assisting with daily dock operations and customer support. This role works closely with marina management, technicians, dock staff, and customers to ensure boats are properly serviced and maintained. This role requires a willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. This position is an opportunity to prepare for advancement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with diagnosing, testing, and repairing outboard, inboard, and sterndrive engines
- Support routine maintenance and minor repairs on marine engines and vessel systems
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical (AC/DC), hydraulic, steering, plumbing, and intake systems
- Help replace worn, damaged, or faulty components
- Prepare tools, parts, and work areas for service jobs and maintain shop part inventory
- Assist with testing engine performance and systems after repairs
- Assist the shop with basic boat maintenance including washing and detailing
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces in shop and dock areas
- Assist with completing service records, repair documentation, and maintaining work orders
- Assist with boat handling, fuel operations, boatyard maintenance, and customer service
- Assist customers with docking, undocking, loading and unloading gear, fueling, pump-outs, and handling cash register sales for fuel, ice, and store merchandise.
- Follow all marina policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately
- QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED required
- Mechanical or marine technology coursework or training preferred
- Prior experience in marine, mechanical, or hands-on technical work is preferred
- Basic knowledge of marine engines, tools, and systems preferred
- Willingness to learn and take direction from Marine Technicians and management
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Driver’s license and boating safety course completion
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULE
- Combination of indoor shop, dockside, and outdoor work
- Mixed schedule with technical assistance duties and dock hand shifts
- Dock Hand responsibilities required some days
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
