Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using schematics, electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to identify issues accurately.
- Repair and overhaul marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical wiring, rigging, sheet metal components, and mechanical assemblies with precision and attention to detail.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to execute repairs and modifications effectively.
- Conduct routine maintenance on vessels including engine tune-ups, fluid changes, electrical system checks, and heavy lifting tasks to ensure optimal performance.
- Read and interpret technical schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems efficiently.
- Collaborate with customers by providing clear explanations of repairs needed and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the maintenance process.
- Assist in assembly or fabrication of custom parts or systems as required for specialized vessel projects or upgrades.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Service Technician or Marine Mechanic with strong mechanical knowledge across various vessel systems.
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately; familiarity with electrical systems is essential.
- Experience working in military environments or with military-grade equipment is a plus.
- Skilled in rigging, sheet metal work, welding (including MIG/TIG), soldering, and fabrication techniques.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, heavy lifting equipment, calipers, soldering irons, welding gear, and maintenance tools.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices applicable to marine vehicles; experience with assembly processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and the ohmmeter for accurate diagnostics.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
