Position Summary
We’re looking for hardworking, reliable, and safety-minded individuals to join our vessel crew as Deckhand this summer. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role that plays a critical part in the safe and efficient operation of our passenger and freight vessels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in all aspects of vessel operations, including docking, undocking, and cargo handling
- Load and secure vehicles, freight, and cargo using proper chaining and tie-down procedures
- Operate forklifts in tight spaces for freight movement
- Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of vessels, docks, buildings, vehicles, and equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance and emergency repairs as directed
- Act as lookout and assist with navigation when underway
- Collect tickets and assist passengers as needed
- Maintain clean and organized deck and storage areas
- Follow all safety procedures and US Coast Guard regulations
- Communicate effectively with Captain, Dock Manager, Engineer, and other crew members
- Perform additional tasks as assigned (vehicle valet, facility maintenance, etc.)
- Represent the company professionally while delivering safe, courteous service
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous maritime, boating, or heavy equipment experience is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform maintenance tasks
- Valid driver’s license with experience operating vehicles with standard transmissions (farm tractors to dump trucks)
- Qualified forklift operator (or ability to become certified quickly)
- Physically fit – must be able to lift up to 100 lbs, climb ladders, and work in all weather conditions
- Excellent vision and hearing
- No motion sickness – must maintain balance and work comfortably in rough water
- Red Cross First Aid & CPR certification (or ability to obtain before start date)
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick, sound decisions
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Knowledge Requirements
- Basic understanding of maritime laws and U.S. Coast Guard regulations for passenger vessels
- Thorough knowledge of vessel systems, mechanical equipment, and safety procedures (certification from Senior Captain required)
This is a physically demanding outdoor position. You must be prepared to work long hours, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
