Pacific Maritime Group is hiring for AB Deck Hand positions to support the operations of its fleet of offshore tugs, in-harbor tugs and crew boats. Candidates with 1-2 years of offshore vessel towing experience preferred. This is a mandatory union position.

Job Responsibilities
- Probationary deck engineers are an integral part of the crew that work to handle lines to moor, unmoor; make tow and break tow for company boats and barges. Deckhands will also be asked to assist the boat captain with piloting.
- Performs light maintenance to company equipment that includes cleaning, stowing of equipment, vessel cleaning, stocking and other general boat related tasks including chipping, painting, and the use of rust removal equipment.
- Stocks general cleaning supplies and makes boats ready to get underway. This includes checking fluid levels on engines, starting generators and switching power to boat from shore to ship. While the boat is underway, keeps equipment organized, lines properly stored, clean boat and clear of deck hazards.
- Deckhand position is “on call”, deckhands are required to maintain close communication with the operations staff to ensure a rapid response to the needs of the Company’s customers.
- Throwing lines, knots, splices, clean and inspect vessel equipment.
- Work directed by Captain, Mate, MOT or PMG Management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Current MMC required
- Current AB unlimited required
- Current medical card
- STCW credential preferred
- TWIC card
- Valid passport or must apply within 30 days of employment
- Must be able to obtain DBIDS within 30 days of employment.
- CPR/First Aid Cert (preferred).
- Current Driver’s License.
- Basic Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Excell, Word, Google doc and sheets, etc.)
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without restriction. Position involves lifting, pulling and operating heavy equipment and objects.
- Agility to bend, stoop, or squat, and climb high steps/ladders frequently.
- Physical dexterity and strength to operate deck machinery; work on equipment that is poorly accessible or in confined workspaces.
- Must be able to keep balance/equilibrium while performing duties at various heights.
- Ability to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.
- Adequate hearing & vision ability.
- Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions

Salary
$35.38/Hr. $566.08/day rate
