Job Summary
AXIOS is seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems on a variety of marine vessels
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on marine diesel engines, including troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to prevent failures and extend equipment lifespan
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments like calipers and ohmmeters to assemble, fabricate, or repair components with accuracy
- Interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot wiring issues; solder connections as needed for secure electrical repairs
- Assist with rigging tasks and heavy lifting operations to install or remove engine parts safely and efficiently
- Maintain detailed service records, maintenance logs, and inspection reports for compliance and future reference
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety procedures are followed during all maintenance activities and support customer service efforts by providing technical advice when required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in diesel engines or heavy machinery; marine experience preferred but not mandatory
- Strong knowledge diesel engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in assembly and rigging techniques
- Proficiency reading schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams; electrical experience is highly desirable
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety standards; physical stamina for prolonged periods of standing or working in confined spaces
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance practices applicable to marine vessels or similar equipment
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
Pay: $1,375.00 - $1,705.00 per week
