Duties
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical components, and mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, belt replacements, and system inspections to ensure optimal vessel performance
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to execute repairs with accuracy
- Fabricate and modify sheet metal parts or components as needed for custom repairs or upgrades
- Conduct rigging tasks such as installing or repairing rigging hardware, cables, and pulleys on boats
- Interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot wiring issues using ohmmeters and other electrical testing devices
- Assist with vessel assembly, disassembly, and reassembly during maintenance cycles or upgrades
- Perform heavy lifting safely when handling large engine parts or boat components while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs for each vessel serviced
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly and ensuring customer satisfaction with the work performed
Experience
- Proven service technician experience in marine or vehicle maintenance environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in engine repair, electrical systems, welding, fabrication, and sheet metal work
- Familiarity with schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and calipers
- Experience working with power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, soldering devices, and heavy lifting techniques
- Knowledge of rigging procedures specific to marine vessels including installing cables and hardware
- Background in military maintenance roles or related fields is a plus due to disciplined approach to safety and precision
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks that require precision measurement instruments for quality assurance
