We are looking for a dedicated Deckhand to assist in navigating the beautiful Casco Bay, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and exceptional guest service. This is a unique opportunity to combine your love for the sea, Maine's rich ecosystem, and history with professional guest interaction and vessel maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in professional and courteous interactions with guests, ensuring a memorable visit to Casablanca.
- Assist the Captain in the safe navigation and handling of the vessel, adhering to all regulatory and safety standards.
- Conduct guided tours of Casco Bay, sharing insights on Portland's history, local ecosystem, and offering concierge recommendations.
- Maintain the vessel’s cleanliness and readiness through regular upkeep tasks.
- Support the Captain with administrative duties, compliance with US Coast Guard regulations, crew training, safety drills, and inventory management.
Hours & Expectations:
- Seasonal employment from May to October, with flexibility in hours.
- Part-time position, requiring 20-22 hours of work during the peak season, mainly around sunset.
- This role demands hands-on experience due to its part-time nature and significant responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
- Education: No specific educational requirements.
- Specialized Knowledge: Strong guest service and boating skills are essential.
- Certification: No formal certifications required, though any related to boating or safety are advantageous.
