Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various marine vessels using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on boat engines, propulsion systems, rigging, sheet metal components, and electrical wiring
- Utilize power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to execute repairs with accuracy
- Conduct fabrication and assembly of custom parts or modifications to meet specific vessel requirements
- Interpret schematics and wiring diagrams to identify faults and implement effective solutions
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate safety procedures to handle large components or equipment
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
Requirements
- Proven service technician experience in marine or vehicle maintenance environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience; familiarity with schematics is essential
- Experience with rigging, welding (including sheet metal welding), soldering, and fabrication techniques
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, ohmmeters, heavy lifting equipment, and other precision instruments
- Background in military maintenance or similar disciplined environments is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex assembly or repair tasks
- Prior mechanic experience in boat or vehicle maintenance preferred; familiarity with maintenance procedures for marine engines highly desirable
