Full Job Description
Arnold Freight is seeking a reliable and hardworking Deckhand to support daily vessel operations during the busy season. This role is essential to maintaining safe, efficient, and timely freight transport across waterways. The Deckhand will assist with cargo handling, vessel maintenance, and general deck operations while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in loading, unloading, and securing freight and cargo
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of vessel, deck, and equipment
- Handle lines during docking and undocking
- Operate deck equipment such as forklifts
- Follow instructions from Captain and senior crew
- Inspect cargo and report damage or safety concerns
- Comply with all safety and environmental regulations
- Participate in safety drills and emergency procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift heavy loads
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
- Basic mechanical skills preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- TWIC card or ability to obtain
- Must pass a pre-employment & random drug test and comply with company drug and alcohol policies

- Outdoor, physically demanding work
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
