Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Machinery Mechanic to join our dynamic team dedicated to maintaining and repairing complex marine equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and restoring marine machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary machinery using hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues accurately.
- Conduct heavy lifting and rigging operations safely during the installation or removal of large machinery components.
- Fabricate, modify, or repair metal parts using welding, sheet metal work, soldering, and fabrication techniques to meet operational specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters to ensure components meet strict tolerances.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports documenting all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with team members and customers to diagnose issues effectively and provide exceptional customer service while ensuring safety standards are upheld.
Skills
- Proven service technician experience with marine or heavy machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Experience with rigging, assembly, fabrication, welding, sheet metal work, soldering, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with military standards or procedures related to marine equipment is a plus.
- Competence in vehicle maintenance techniques applicable to marine vehicles or similar machinery.
- Knowledge of maintenance best practices for heavy lifting operations in maritime settings.
