Overview
The primary function of this position will be the creation and integration of electrical design for new and existing product. This will be achieved by creating electrical designs in-house and working with external engineering vendors. This position will create applicable CAD models, technical drawings for production & vendors, new parts, and bill of materials. This position will also be responsible for the integration of the system on prototypes and maintaining system design throughout the life of the product. Although existing products are not the primary responsibly, the electrical engineer will also support troubleshooting and redesigning if required and warranty support. This person shall have a strong background in marine electrical and mechanical systems.
Duties
- Design and develop complete electrical systems for vessels 30 to 70 feet
- Work with outside engineering to create new electrical designs
- Work with outside vendors to specify and create new parts such as AC/DC panels
- Create harness routes and production drawings
- Develop and maintain an accurate Bill Of Materials
- Create installation drawings and documentation required by production
- Provide technical expertise and transfer knowledge to the technicians building the product
- Help to build Standards library and provide training to the intended audience.
- Support the build and integration of new products on the prototype and production ramp up
- Trouble shoot electrical/mechanical issues on work in process as needed by technicians
- Create Redlines and documentation for changes. Including electrical/mechanical issues, hardware locations, general installation etc.
- Take and pass NMMA standards test and become in-house compliance specialist
- Must follow proper procedures in the safe handling of hazardous wastes, which may be generated during the manufacturing process.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years electrical experience in marine manufacturing
- Experience developing and implementing new electrical designs
- Comprehension of the manufacturing and development process
- Able to train and provide written and verbal instructions
- 2D & 3D CAD capabilities
- Complete understanding of ABYC standards and recommended practices
- Exceptional organizational skills, administrative skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related software
- Passionate about implementing change that will advance technology, quality and performance of new and existing products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Some hands-on work may be required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
