Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Marine Technician Mechanic to join our team in maintaining and repairing mainly outboard motors, pontoons and fishing boats. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and fabrication skills, with experience in service and maintenance of marine systems. Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair marine engines, electrical systems, and mechanical components using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance on vessels, including engine servicing, electrical troubleshooting, and system inspections
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments for repairs and fabrication tasks
- Conduct rigging, sheet metal work, welding, and fabrication to ensure vessel integrity and safety standards are met
- Assist with assembly of marine components and systems according to specifications
- Perform heavy lifting as required for parts replacement or installation tasks
- Maintain detailed documentation of repairs, maintenance procedures, and parts used
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and environmental standards
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic within the marine industry or related fields
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and vehicle maintenance practices
- Experience with rigging, sheet metal work, welding (including soldering), fabrication, and the use of hand tools and power tools
- Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques and safety procedures
- Ability to read technical diagrams and use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
