Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, safety-minded Deckhand to join our maritime crew. This role is essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessel, combining hands-on maintenance work with high-quality service. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of mechanical aptitude and a customer-focused mindset, contributing to both operational duties and hospitality support on board.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain clean, safe deck areas; inspect and stow gear.
- Assist with the daily operations of the vessel, including routine maintenance and general cleaning.
- Make and break tow lines, handle rigging, and assist with securing the vessel.
- Ensure all rigging and deck equipment are operated safely and in accordance with procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of deck equipment and promptly report any issues.
- Work collaboratively with crew members to uphold a safe and positive work environment.
- Participate actively in all required safety drills and ongoing training.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge related to vessels and deck operations.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
- Team-first attitude.
- Physically fit; lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable with long shifts, changing and inclement weather.
- Adaptable and willing to take on a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior maritime experience (preferred but not required).
Schedule
- Rotation: 2 weeks on-call watch, followed by 1 week off
- Compensation: Paid daily rate
- Availability: Must be within 30-45 minutes driving distance of harbor for on-call work.
