Duties
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various marine vessels using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on engines, propulsion systems, steering mechanisms, and auxiliary equipment
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters to complete repairs accurately
- Fabricate or modify sheet metal components and rigging systems to meet specific vessel requirements
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to proper rigging procedures and safety protocols
- Assemble new equipment or components following detailed technical drawings and specifications
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, military specifications (if applicable), and environmental regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic with a strong background in marine or vehicle maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and assembly instructions with precision
- Electrical experience including soldering, wiring repairs, and troubleshooting electrical systems on vessels
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing engine repair, sheet metal fabrication, welding (MIG/TIG), and component assembly
- Familiarity with military standards or experience working in military environments is a plus
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering irons, ohmmeters, and other precision measuring instruments
- Customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs
- Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for quality workmanship in fabrication and maintenance tasks
- Valid experience with rigging techniques necessary for vessel assembly or repair projects
