Duties
- Perform detailed diagnostics on outboard motors using schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble outboard engines, ensuring all components meet quality standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, spark plug replacements, and system inspections to optimize engine performance.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to modify or replace parts as needed.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems, fuel systems, rigging components, and mechanical assemblies.
- Assist customers by explaining repairs, providing maintenance advice, and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the process.
- Perform heavy lifting of engines or parts safely while adhering to safety protocols; utilize precision measuring instruments like calipers for accurate repairs.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic specializing in outboard marine engines or similar mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of schematics, electrical systems, sheet metal work, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with military-grade equipment or experience working in military maintenance environments is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery, and maintenance equipment effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance principles applicable to marine engines and rigging systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals and use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters accurately.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and communication.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions; attention to detail with precision measuring instruments.
